Our goals / Objectives
- To provide affordable and accessible books for all readers, regardless of their income, background, or preferences.
- To promote a culture of reading and learning, by offering a diverse and curated selection of books across various genres, topics, and perspectives.
- To support environmental sustainability, by recycling books, reducing waste, and using eco-friendly materials and practices.
- To foster a sense of community and dialogue, by hosting events, workshops, and book clubs that encourage discussion and exchange of ideas.
- To uphold ethical and social responsibility, by donating books to underprivileged groups, supporting local authors and publishers.

Accessibility:
Our New store has access for wheelchair users with a small lip to the entrance. The books are shelved high, but staff can always assist were requested and will be happy to help.
There is a raised section to the rear of the shop, unfortanately not accessible via wheelchair at present, we can take photos and then bring any books down to the accessible section.
Please get in touch in advance with any accessibility requests, we sometimes can get busy and advance warning will help us to provide better assistance.
We are also open to any suggestions to improve our accessibility. Please get in touch if you have any requests.
Photos can be provided of our book sections by genre if you have accessibility needs and wish to browse our shelves remotely.
Do you run ( or know of) a charity /school / institution that needs books?
Please get in touch, we have a large number of books that we are able to donate and you can request genres of books that we will be able to supply for free. We always have popoular thrillers, general fiction and crime novels along with more general non fiction books which we can provide to charities or groups in need.

Recycling Policy
At our bookshop, we are committed to reducing our environmental impact and promoting sustainability. We do this by:
- Recycling a large amount of second hand books that we receive from our customers and suppliers. We either resell them at a discounted price or donate them to local schools and libraries.
- Recycling some cardboard packaging that we use for shipping and storing our books. We also reuse boxes and envelopes whenever possible.
- Recylcling bags for life from our customers who sell or donate books to us. These bags are made of recycled materials and can be used multiple times.
- Donating money to environmental charities every month. We support various causes that aim to protect the planet and its biodiversity.

Unfortunately we do not have the resources to collect books for free without photographs of the books in advance. Get in touch or send us photos if you have books to sell or donate, we also have a seperate page for books that we can buy.
Getting to us by
Car /bike : YO11 1HA there are a number of car parks nearby.
Rail : Leave the rail station take a right and head down the shopping precint. After 5 minutes +-300m is a pedestrian crossing. Head down the hill and take a left onto Queen Street at Cooplands. We are on the left.
