Difficult to define as most 1st editions don’t hold value well. It generally needs to be Hardback, classic cover and the first book of a famous author before they were famous.

We are very happy to offer you credit on other books , we can usually offer 1.5 x the cash price in credit against other books. Sometime we may offer credit only if your books are less likely to sell.

Please note that credit notes are not exchangeable for cash, we cannot use them for online purchases or orders ,and we will not apply deals to the credit notes.

If you are after cash and we reject them, we appreciate if you are able to take them to charity.
We will happily pay for any books that we can definitely sell, if we do not pay for them we will have little confidence that we are able to sell them.

Please do not be offended if we can’t buy your books, there are many amazing books that we cannot sell due to space and lack of demand, there are 125,000,000 different titles out there looking for good homes and we cannot house them all !! 🙂

Also bear in mind that if a book is available on Ebay for ÂŁ2-3 with free postage we will not be able to pay much money for it, even if it is saleable (please look at the lowest not the highest price and check completed listings) –
We try our best to be fair with our cash offers if we want the books, if not then maybe try to sell them yourselves, another bookshop or ziffit /Ebay. We do pay over ziffit prices for most books that we have confidence in selling, especially the higher value books.
